Project Venture International Camp, July 14-21, 2010

Project Venture Facilitator Workshops July 16-18, 2010

For over 27 years the National Indian Youth Leadership Project in Gallup, New Mexico has sponsored a summer Leadership Camp for youth. Attendance at the summer Leadership Camp is one of the key components in the Project Venture year-long program cycle.

This 28th Annual International Youth Leadership Camp will take place July 14-21, 2010 at the Sacred Mountain Camp near Mt. Taylor in New Mexico. An invitation to attend is being extended to each of our replication/implementation sites. Enrollment is limited to 4 youth and up to 4 staff per site and will be handled on a first come basis.

Leadership Camp

The summer Leadership Camp, a cornerstone of the Project Venture model, is an immersion experience in the working values of the model and NIYLP. For program providers it is an opportunity to expand on the time spent with the youth in your programs and to sharpen facilitation and programming skills. For the youth it is an opportunity to meet new people, try new roles and activities, learn about other cultures and create community with Project Venture participants from throughout the United States, Canada and beyond.

Registration:

Space in both the Camp and the workshops is limited. On-line registration deadline is June 5, 2010. After June 6th, call for availability.

Fee for youth is $ 400 per person.

Fee for adults is $ 600 per person and includes optional facilitator workshop.

Following registration, download the following information and required forms:

Workshop participants who are not attending camp or chaperoning youth should make arrangements for lodging at Sky City Casino and plan to arrive in time for a 8:30 a.m. check in and start time on July 16th. One day of training will be spent at camp.

Intro to Project Venture Facilitation Workshop and Advanced Project Venture Programming Workshop

Two Project Venture workshop options for program facilitators will take place July 16-18, 2010.

Intro to Project Venture (click here for more info.) is for new facilitators or those who have never taken an Intro to PV workshop.

Advanced Project Venture Programming (click here for more info.) is for those who have attended the Intro to PV workshop or have at least one year of program experience.

Depending on group sizes, there maybe times when both workshops are together.

Following the training (July 19-21) workshop participants can elect to volunteer as co-facilitators putting newly learned skills to work. Contact us if you are interested.

The workshops will take place at the Sky City Visitor Center. Workshop only participants must make lodging arrangements at Sky City Casino (www.skycity.com/Hotel) for July 16 and 17. It is recommended that you do this asap as rooms are limited. To receive the NIYLP rate, tell them you are part of the NIYLP camp and training.
